What is MicroCart? From trial account to checked test order

MicroCart is an online shop platform for managing products, your storefront and orders. The most useful introduction is a small trial using your own products. It costs €39.95 per shop per month or €399.50 per year excluding VAT. All MicroCart apps and B2B are included. The trial lasts fourteen days without a credit card; payment-provider costs are separate from MicroCart's 0% own transaction fee.

Step one: create one testable product

Create a trial account and add one representative product with title, your own photograph, price, stock and variants. Use a genuine variant difference, such as size, to check information and inventory consistency. Review company and VAT settings separately. Creating a product does not prove that your payment account is ready for live sales.

Step two: configure the storefront

Open the page structure and edit one section with your own heading and image. Use the colours and typography supported by the chosen theme. View the same page on desktop and mobile. Save and inspect the preview; publishing is a separate step in your deliberate launch. Related reading: guide with genuine editor images.

Step three: scope a migration

For each source platform, establish which products, variants, customers, orders and URLs can be transferred and what requires manual work. Shopify offers a CSV route and, when available, an API connection. For Ecwid, first have your export files and processing options assessed. Keep exports and check a small trial import before closing your existing store.

Step four: check payments and delivery

Connect a supported payment provider such as Mollie or Stripe and confirm availability for your account and country. Verification, payment methods and tariffs have their own conditions. Configure feasible shipping rules and check a domestic order including discount, shipping and VAT. Verify international or special routes separately.

Step five: complete the order workflow

Use the appropriate test mode or a controlled small order and keep its number. Compare expected price, discount, shipping and payment status with the admin record. Check cancellation or refund, stock and accounting. Investigate errors; a confirmation screen alone does not prove all processing is complete.

Can a beginner test this?

Yes: start with the five tasks above and record where you need help. Programming knowledge differs from knowledge of product information, tax and fulfilment; that preparation remains necessary.

When should you investigate further?

For complex custom workflows, regulated products or mandatory external systems, write a requirements list first. Ask for evidence of the specific workflow rather than assuming suitability for every business.

Is every migration automatic?

No. The data transferred depends on the source platform, the selected import method and access permissions. An export file does not guarantee transferable customer passwords, order history or working redirects.

Can every product type go live immediately?

Check that your product, delivery model and information requirements are supported and permitted. Do not assume universal availability of digital delivery, subscriptions or AI checkout.

Who handles technical and business management?

MicroCart provides the hosted platform. You manage access, settings, product claims and your seller obligations. That distinction remains when software automates a task.

How should you assess extensions?

All MicroCart apps and B2B are included. For external services, still verify availability, setup and their own charges. Test the full workflow before daily sales depend on it.
